Project Partners

The REAP project is implemented by a project consortium comprised of Central Asian partner organisations from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, and international partner organisations from India, Germany and Austria – each with specific expertise to contribute to the overall success of the project. The project is led and coordinated by The Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) from Kazakhstan. Indian partners STENUM Asia, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and Austrian partner Austria Recycling, Verein zur Förderung von Recycling und Umweltschutz in Österreich (AREC) leading the technical component of the project. the National Association of Small and Medium Businesses of the Republic of Tajikistan (NASMB RT) from Tajikistan and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan from Uzbekistan are responsible for carrying out the on-the-ground implementation of the project in the respective countries. adelphi research gGmbH from Germany led the policy and finance components in the project.

The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC)

The Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) is an independent, non-political, non-profit international organization with a mission to assist the governments of the Central Asian countries, regional and international partners in solving the problems of environmental protection and sustainable development in the Central Asian region and Afghanistan. Promoting dialogue and cooperation between all stakeholders involved in the process of environmental protection, today CAREC is the leading regional center of knowledge in the field of environment and sustainable development, recognized by national, regional and international partners.

National Association of small and Medium Business of the Republic of Tajikistan

Activities of the National Association of Small and Medium Businesses of the Republic of Tajikistan (NASMB RT) since the date of its registration (in September 1993) until the current moment include the following: protection of the rights of entrepreneurs, lobbying their interests, their capacity building, dissemination of information relevant for the expansion of enterprises/companies, developing partnerships and reduction of administrative barriers.

Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan

Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan (hereinafter - Chamber) is a non-governmental non-profit organization that assists business entities at all stages of their activities.

Chamber pays great attention to cooperation with local and foreign partners, including foreign companies operating in the Uzbek market or planning to start a business in Uzbekistan.

Austria Recycling, Austria

In 1946, with the support of the Ministry of Commerce, forward-looking people founded the Österreichische Produktionsförderungsgesellschaft ÖPG (Austrian Production Promotion Association). The association initiates and organises collection campaigns to provide raw materials for the manufacturing industry. After that, ÖPG established Austria-wide collection systems. In the 1980s the society changed from scarce to more affluent society. Consequently, ÖPG develops resource efficiency programmes especially for SMEs.

STENUM Asia Sustainable Development Society

STENUM Asia was set up in March 2007 as a not-for-profit entity with help from an Austrian consulting group. It has since grown into an internationally recognized sustainability consulting firm that provides implementation support to high impact projects of regional or national importance that are funded by development institutions. It also undertakes voluntary research and support activities where appropriate to further the cause of responsible consumption and production in alignment with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12 (SDG 12). All other type of assignments and projects are contracted and executed by the other group entity - SUSTENT Consulting.

The Energy and Research Institute, India
